How good is Galileo? Check the Performance Reports to find out!

20 September 2022

Every quarter, the Galileo Service Centre publishes Performance Reports on the Galileo Open Service (OS) and Search and Rescue (SAR) Service. These reports provide the public with statistics on the delivery and quality of the Galileo Services. Users can access quantitative information on a range of parameters specific to each service. This allows them to better understand how well the Galileo services are performing, relative to minimum targets specified in the service definitions.
Updated metadata information for Galileo satellites GSAT0223 and GSAT0224

7 September 2022

The European GNSS Service Centre (GSC) has updated the Galileo Satellite Metadata information to account for Galileo satellites GSAT0223 (SVID 34) and GSAT0224 (SVID 10), both of which were successfully launched on 5 December 2021 at 01:19 CET.
EUSPA welcomes Shriya satellite to the Galileo family!

29 August 2022

The Galileo satellite GSAT0224 entered into service on 29 August. The satellite is named ‘Shriya’, after a Norwegian grade school student who won the Galileo drawing competition organised by the European Commission and the Norwegian Space Agency.
The Galileo Almanac: the clue for satellite tracking

14 July 2022

The Galileo almanac is a set of Keplerian parameters that allows to reconstruct satellite position coordinates only approximately, whilst having quite long period of validity compared to the so-called ephemeris coefficients. A coarse information about where the Galileo satellites are is necessary for the receiver or smartphone to know which satellites are potentially visible and therefore, it allows to reduce the time of their signal acquisition and subsequent tracking process. The almanacs are broadcast within the navigation message, and they can be also downloaded from the GNSS Service Center web site.
EUSPA re-opens testing campaign for INAV improvements implementation

27 June 2022

The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) is re-opening a testing campaign for INAV improvements implementation and hereby invites external stakeholders to express their interest in participating in such testing campaign.
Galileo Performance Reports of Q1-2022 available for download!

24 June 2022

The Galileo Open Service (OS) and the Enhanced Search and Rescue (SAR)/Galileo Service Performance Reports of the first quarter of 2022 (covering January, February, and March 2022) are available at the Electronic Library of the European GNSS Service Centre web portal.
Good performance, less computation: A new ionospheric model for the Galileo Open Service

23 June 2022

A new ionospheric model (NTCM G), which can be used to correct single-frequency Galileo signals for ionospheric delay, is now available on the European GNSS Service Centre (GSC) website.
Stay updated on Galileo’s status with timely notifications

18 May 2022

The Galileo programme offers electronic notifications for users about changes in the system status. Following the update of the Open Service SDD, issue 1.2,  and system performance improvements, Galileo users now benefit from more timely notification send-outs.
Galileo High Accuracy Service Signal in Space Interface Control Document officially published

Galileo High Accuracy Service gets one step closer to the launch of initial services.
Another step for EU’s positioning system: Nikolina joins the Galileo family!

5 May 2022

After a challenging Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) and Testing campaign during the pandemic times, Galileo satellite “Nikolina” (GSAT0223) is entering service provision as of today. The satellite will reinforce the performance and robustness of the EU’s satellite-based positioning system.
