The European GNSS Agency (GSA) is working to engage the regional business communities in opportunities offered by the EU’s space programmes. As part of this effort, a workshop for SMEs and other enterprising companies and individuals is being organised on 27 March at GSA’s HQ.

The European GNSS Agency (GSA), recently located to Prague, is keen that the  business community understands and engages with the wealth of opportunities available to companies and individuals thanks to EU space programme initiatives, such as EGNOS and Galileo.

In order to bring these initiatives and their services even closer to the industry, GSA organises a showcase event on 27 March. The audience of the workshop will include SME´s from the Czech Republic, larger industry bodies, representatives of foreign companies established in the Czech Republic and the press.

Participants will hear from a variety of speakers. Officials from the GSA will explain the support and opportunities available under the various instruments of the European Commission’s research and development  programmes and give examples of successful engagement in FP7 with SMEs including the results of specific projects.

The event will also include best practice presented by industry representatives and contributions from the European Space Agency (ESA) Technology Transfer Programme Office, the Czech Ministry of Transport and AZO (Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen): the organisers of the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) who will describe the 2013 competition.

The workshop will take place at the GSA Headquarters building at Janovskeho 438 in Prague from 08:30 on the morning of Wednesday 27 March.

The half-day workshop will be followed by a press conference for Czech media with Carlo des Dorides, GSA Executive Director, Jiří Žák, Deputy Minister of Transport and Karel Dobeš, Government Commissioner.
