TestDrive GNSS provides SimGEN™, SimREPLAYplus and SimREPLAY customers with an integrated test solution that enables performance characterisation of GNSS User Equipment (UE). TestDrive GNSS automates the testing process by configuring the instruments in the system, stepping through the test sequences, and processing and storing the results. TestDrive GNSS is the essential tool for performing GNSS testing, especially where it requires iterative and repeat testing. For example, most of the fundamental GNSS receiver tests require many iterations in order to obtain the required statistical spread of results. Time To First Fix (TTFF) for example is not a single measurement, but typically comprises 70 to 100 repeat measurements, and that is under just one set of conditions. Vary those conditions and you will soon be preforming many multiples of these 70 to 100 tests.
To carry out this testing manually takes a lot of time, and it is also prone to human error. TestDrive GNSS does away with both. Test automation not only takes away the manual interaction with the simulator and device under test, but adds complete repeatability.
TestDrive GNSS not only performs automatic measurements it also stores the results data in a relational database, and produces a formal report of the tests with all the results in a PDF format. This makes TestDrive GNSS very suitable for formalised testing and certification, where documented test results are essential. Such documentation and control is essential for example in all ISO accredited organisations.
TestDrive GNSS works with any Spirent simulator which operates using SimGEN, SimREPLAY or SimREPLAYplus and once installed is simply enabled by licence key. TestDrive GNSS controls the simulator and your device under test via the appropriate interfaces and allows communication strings to be edited to suit the device under test. A number of examples for common GNSS receiver types are provided by default.
