GSAT0232 becomes part of the 24 nominal constellation; GSAT0205 is decommissioned

The Galileo satellite GSAT0205 has been decommissioned and GSAT0232 has been relocated to A08 nominal slot.

On 15/12/2025 the Galileo satellite GSAT02051 was decommissioned as announced in Service Notice #22 and NAGU #2025059. As of 01/02/2026, the Galileo GSAT0232 has taken its location in the Galileo constellation (A08 slot) and is now contributing to the nominal service (NAGU # 2026009).

Galileo satellite GSAT0205 was launched successfully on 11/09/2015, together with its companion GSAT0206, from Europe’s Spaceport, in Kourou, French Guyana.

The EU Space Surveillance and Tracking (EU SST) and its Front Desk managed by EUSPA, in close collaboration with the Collision Avoidance Operational Centres (FR-SSA, S3TOC), has been actively supporting these manoeuvres.

Users can find the updated status of the Galileo constellation in the Constellation Information section of the GSC website.

1GSAT0205 is also known as Alba, which corresponds with the name of the child who was the winner of the “Galileo Children's Drawing Competition” in each European Member State.
