GNSS Disruption & Galileo Differentiators: Impact on Offshore Operations

Exploring Galileo services and their role in maritime applications 

 

The European GNSS Service Centre (GSC) will contribute to the hybrid seminar “GNSS Disruption & Galileo Differentiators: Impact on Offshore Operations”, organised by the Egypt Branch of The Nautical Institute on 17 August 2026.

During the session, GSC experts, supporting EUSPA activities, will introduce the EU Space Programme, with a particular focus on Galileo and its services for maritime users, including the High Accuracy Service (HAS), Open Service Navigation Message Authentication (OSNMA), and Search and Rescue (SAR). The session will explain how maritime users can access and benefit from these services and highlight their specific features.

Bringing together maritime professionals, the event will feature contributions from several speakers and focus on GNSS disruptions and the DGNSS issues experienced across the Middle East in recent months. As part of the programme, the GSC will present Galileo differentiators and real-world maritime use cases, highlighting their relevance to safer and more resilient maritime and offshore operations.

The session will also introduce the role of the GSC as the interface between Galileo users and the Galileo system, providing service information, technical documentation, user support and practical, user-oriented resources developed in the framework of EUSPA activities.

Participants will learn more about Galileo services and maritime applications and to engage directly with GSC experts during the event discussions.
