Galileo Open Service and Enhanced SAR/Galileo Service Performance Reports of the second quarter of 2021 (covering April, May and June) have just been published in Electronic Library of the European GNSS Service Centre (GSC) web portal.

The interactive world map is an online tool to help find information about augmentation service providers that support Galileo. By clicking on each country, the map shows the names of the Galileo-ready providers along with the name and type of service and coverage.

It is official! Following the success of the previous innovation competitions, the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) announces today #myEUSpace! The EUSPA-led competition targets innovators and entrepreneurs ready to develop and commercialise innovative solutions that leverage EU space data and services. It goes beyond the current space-applications horizon, fusing and testing new technologies in location-based services, smart mobility, smart agriculture, geomatics, and for the first time, quantum technologies.

As part of a planned evolution to meet the Full Operational Capability, the Galileo Ground Control Segment (GCS) will undergo significant changes in the coming months.

The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) is launching a consultation on a technology and service road map for the Galileo Public Regulated Service (PRS). This consultation will support the development of the PRS user segment and market uptake up till 2027.

The launch of the European Union Space Programme and its entry into force will be celebrated at a special online event to be held on June 22. The event will focus on how the Space programme marks a fresh start to an ambitious Space Agenda for Europe and showcases the contribution of the EU Space Programme to Europe’s digital and green transitions and the EU’s priority policies. The European Union Agency for the Space Programme, EUSPA, is launched today marking the start of a new era for EU Space. Building on the legacy of the European GNSS Agency, EUSPA will take on more responsibilities to create even more opportunities from Space for EU citizens and its economy.

The introduction of Galileo signal in solutions that rely on positioning is proving great benefits and new opportunities for the industry, thanks to its enhanced performance and increased accuracy. Rokubun experience is a good example of how Galileo can bring significant benefits to precision agriculture by adding a constellation on top of the traditional GPS and GLONASS, increasing the number of satellites in view, thus allowing accurate drone photogrammetry operations in areas with poor satellite coverage, such as closed valleys or fields that are on the edges of forests.

The Galileo programme has reached an important milestone, with an estimated 2 billion Galileo-enabled smartphones sold until today. This is an incredible achievement, when we think that the first Galileo-enabled smartphone only hit the market in 2016, and shows that the market has been quick to trust and embrace the advantages that Galileo offers.
