The latest destination for the European Space Expo (ESE) is Dublin. This spectacular exhibition makes its latest landing from 4 to 9 June in the centre of the Irish capital at Trinity College. The ESE has been a massive hit across Europe and Dublin will not be an exception with plenty of activities planned for young and old during its week in the Emerald Isle. And, as ever, admission is free!

On the road to DublinSeveral thousand visitors are expected during the European Space Expo's (ESE) week in Dublin in June. The popular exhibition is hosted by Trinity College Dublin from 4 to 9 June and will show how space and its applications are providing huge benefits for Europe and its citizens now and into the future.

Situated on the Front Square at Trinity College, the ESE will offer a varied programme of exciting activities including space-related workshops for children, an Irish space industry event, public talks and much, much more.

The Space Expo highlights the critical role of space and space-based technologies to Europe. In Ireland there is a very active space science and astronomy research community that has worked with European space organisations for many decades. And well over 40 Irish companies are working in the sector on everything from telecommunications, to advanced materials to remote sensing of the oceans.

Check out the Sun!

A major expo highlight each day will be the Sun@One spot where visitors will be able to use the remote controlled telescope at the Teide Observatory in Tenerife! This is a world-class observatory situated above the clouds high up in the Canary Islands scanning the skies day and night.

Every day at 1 pm the controls will be handed over to Dublin to allow visitors to observe activity on the Sun and take a souvenir photo or two! This is a great chance to get up close and personal with our nearest star.

Other highlights include ‘Soap-Box talks’ that comprise a series of daily talks by talented space scientists and communicators from across Ireland.

The Space Expo coincides with the 9th Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) European Congress which runs from 4 to 7 June at the Dublin Convention Centre. The European GNSS Agency will be participating at the Congress with speakers in four of the main conference sessions.

All free

This free exhibition has already been a big hit all around Europe with its ‘hands on’ approach to demonstrating space technologies and their benefits. And, of course, the critical role of the European Union in space and space-based technologies is highlighted with Galileo and EGNOS taking starring roles!

Interactive screen around the Space Expo are displayed in the three working languages of the EC (English, French, German) plus, for the local kiosk, Gaelic.

EU and national experts will also be on hand to answer questions and, of course, GSA is demonstrating the current and future benefits of today’s EGNOS initiative and tomorrow’s Galileo satellite navigation systems.

See you in Dublin!
